The Legacy of Houston Youth Soccer Association
Founded in 1968 as the Houston District Jr Soccer Association, the Houston Youth Soccer Association (HYSA) has been a cornerstone of soccer in the Houston area. Under the leadership of Milton Aimi, the organization spearheaded the development of youth soccer, eventually expanding its reach to the state level through the creation of the State Youth Soccer Association, now known as South Texas Youth Soccer.
Aimi’s influence extended far beyond Houston. His dedication to the sport earned him roles such as Vice President of the U.S. Soccer Federation and an induction into the National Soccer Hall of Fame—a testament to his enduring legacy. HYSA’s name change in 1980 signified its evolution while maintaining its core mission: advancing youth soccer and acting in the best interest of players and teams. Today, HYSA remains a non-profit 501(c) organization dedicated to promoting the beautiful game and nurturing young talent.
